A youth pastor, who can not be named due to the sensitivity of the case, has been subjected to a hijacking, assault and left for dead this past Saturday night.
The pastor came out of the KFC on the corner of Ontdekkers Road and CR Swart Road and when he reached his bakkie noticed three men in a BMW next to him. He did not take much notice of them but when he unlocked his vehicle a fourth man approached him with a firearm, put it against his head and forced him into the bakkie.
They then took all his valuables and made him stop at an ATM where he had to withdraw the maximum limit he was allowed to. Afterwards they instructed him to drive to his home where his unsuspecting wife and children were. The pastor pretended to be disoriented and not to know where he lives. The men then forced him into the other vehicle and proceeded to severely assault him.
While driving around Roodekrans his bakkie finally ran out of fuel. The suspects pushed it down a ditch and fled.
The bakkie was found on Sunday by a search party in Vuurlelie Street and the pastor was found nearby in a veld where he was hiding.
One suspect was arrested later the same night.
Although the Record is in possession of more details, it can due to safety reasons as well as the sensitive stage of the investigation, not be released at this stage.
