Scientific marvel or the end of times?

Will you be chipped?

Imagine a device that can store all your accounts, your personal information, your medical history, will be able to activate all other devices, start your vehicle and unlock your house.

Imagine that device are small enough to be implanted under the skin of your hand or forehead. It sounds marvelous and convenient and like the next step in our technological development, but this device, a Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chip which can already be found in every smart phone, will also give a tyrannical government the opportunity to track your every move, gather information about your behaviour and control you completely. The end of privacy and personal freedom as we know it. As part of Obamacare, The US’s government medical insurance, that’s busy being rolled out it will be obligatory for every US citizen to be chipped by the end of 2017, according to a recent report on NBC News.

It is believed that you won’t be eligible for any governmental service if you are not chipped.

Activists of the so called Truth Movement as well as certain fundamentalist Christian factions say there is something sinister about the RFID chip while some call it outright evil and a sign of the end of times being near.

Christians cite Revelations 13:16-17 as a clear message about this. It reads “And he (the anti-Christ) causes all, the small and the great, and the rich and the poor, and the free men and the slaves, to be given a mark on their right hand or on their forehead, and he provides that no one will be able to buy or to sell, except the one who has the mark, either the name of the beast or the number of his name.”

Across the globe technology junkies are already experimenting with the chip and according to an Australian survey as many as 25 per cent of the population are interested in it.
