It’s never too late to donate

Everyday one out of seven people who go to hospital, need blood.

Would you take 20 minutes of your time to save someone’s life?

According to Harry the Hominid, spokeshominid for Maropeng, three spoons of blood can save a baby’s life, he said in a press statement.

Dominic Hartze, a regular blood donor from Davidsonville has been donating blood for the past seven years. “I started donated blood when I was 16 years-old because it looked fun but now it means so much more because I know that I am saving someone’s life.

By donating blood, you would have saved four people’s lives

“Blood can only be replaced with blood. and it can not be substituted with anything else. The platelets it consists of is extracted from the blood sometimes and is used to treat cancer patients,” says Melinda Samuels from SANBS (South African National Blood Services.)

In order to donate, you need to weigh over 50kgs, be over the age of 16 years and be healthy.

Westgate Mall has a SANBS office where you can donate.
