Load shedding: Tonight and the coming weekend

Plan the night ahead with load shedding looming.

The possibility exists that Roodepoort and Florida homes will be load shed tonight (Wednesday 10 June), should the schedule reach stage 3.

This according to City Power’s online load shedding schedule, where it notes that Roodepoort (Block 3B) and Florida (Block 7B) homes will not be affected by stage 1 or stage 2 load shedding.

Should the grid be overextended tonight and the schedule move into stage 3, Block 3B and Block 7B households will be affected from 2pm to 6.30pm this afternoon.

Whether that will be the case has not yet been confirmed by City Power or Eskom, that keeps residents informed of changes in the grid via twitter.

This morning Eskom on twitter warned, “The load shedding prognosis for today is medium for the morning and high for the evening”.

Weekend load shedding:

On Friday (12 June) Roodepoort (Block 3B) will face load shedding from 2pm to 6.30pm at stage 1 and 2 and a double load shedding at stage 3, where a 10pm to 2.30am slot will be added. On Saturday and Sunday (13 and 14 June) Roodepoorters might only be affected at stage 3 from 6pm to 22.30pm.

Florida (Block 7B) will not be load shed on Friday whatsoever, but will face load shedding at stage 1 and 2 (2pm to 6.30pm) on Saturday and Sunday. Should the grid require it and stage 3 be implemented, a second time slot will be added on Saturday and Sunday from 22pm to 2.30am.
