Lion Park closes lion-attack enclosure

LANSERIA – Lion Park manager says the enclosure where the attack took place will be closed to the public until further notice.

Following the lion attack on 1 June, the Lion Park made the decision on 9 June to temporarily close down the enclosure where the attack took place.

Co-manager at the park, André La Cock explained, “The lions will remain in the enclosure but no one will be able to enter that section. We need to do this in order to let the lioness stay with her pride as our animal behaviourist will monitor the pride.”

He said that the other four enclosures will still be open to the public for private vehicle and guided tours.

“We will strictly enforce the rules of the park and if anyone breaks any of these rules then we will ask them to leave the park,” he added.

“The enclosure will only be opened to guided tours when we are satisfied with the report from the behaviourist,” concluded La Cock.
