Suspects caught in the act

One suspect apprehended and another escapes when they were caught trying to rob a house.

Two men were caught red handed yesterday as they tried to break into a house in Hendrik Boom Street.

A neighbour saw the suspicious men and alerted the Western Suburbs – Roodepoort Neighbourhood Watch who was swiftly on the scene.

One of the suspects managed to escape while the second suspect was apprehended on Reyger Street.

The Neighbourhood Watch’s public relations officer (PRO) Frikkie van Zyl said the suspects tried to escape by jumping over walls.

“The two men managed to break a front door before we arrived on the scene. When the second suspect was apprehended, the owner of the house arrived. After checking CCTV footage, he was positively identified. Nothing in the house was taken,” he said.
