Maragon hockey D12 champs

As if that is not enough, the team also played in the Beaulieu and Kearsney festivals, five friendly derbies and the Aitken provincial tournament.

Four months, a 135 hours spent on the hockey field, 41 games, a very committed and skilled coach and one slave-driving manageress was the success recipe of Maragon Private School‘s first boys hockey team.

The team won the D12 league finals on 29 May by beating Hoërskool Florida 3-1 in a nail-biting game. The boys team was undefeated in all their D12 league games, scoring 33 goals and only conceding four. The D12 league consists of high schools Randburg, Linden, Florida, Bastion, Roodepoort, The King’s School West Rand, Allen Glen and Westridge.

In addition to the D12 district league, the Maragon boys hockey teams also participated in the Southern Gauteng league where they played against prominent schools such as Parktown Boys, Waterstone College, Monument High, Jeppe Boys High, Rand Park High and Bryanston High.
