Witpooortjie Vikings Amateur Boxing Club’s Lulu Smith has been selected into the Gauteng West team that will participate in the Elite Gauteng trails next month.
Lulu, who fights in the 64 kilogram category, was chosen from the Gauteng West district trials that took place earlier this year.
If the Helderkruin resident does well at the trials, she will represent Gauteng in the South African Elite championships.
“It feels great to be given the chance to represent my district. I hope as a team we do well and that I make the team proud with my performances,” said Lulu.
The first year Law student is currently juggling her education with boxing.
She will be writing exams on 6 June, the same day she will be competing at the trials.
