Biker cracks hip, pelvis in collision

Metro Police were on scene to launch an investigation into the events surrounding the collision.

A biker, age unknown, sustained serious injuries to his lower body in a collision on Beyers Naudé where it intersects with Monker Road this morning (Friday 29 May).

According to ER24 spokesperson Russell Meiring paramedics on scene found the man on the side of the road with his motorcycle lying 50 metres away.

“A vehicle that the motorcycle had seemingly collided with, was parked a few metres away,” Meiring said.

“The man was in a critical condition; assessment on scene revealed he had fractured his femur bone (hip), had bumps and bruises all over his legs and a suspected fractured pelvis,” he told the Record.

The man had to be provided with advanced life support intervention before he was immobilised and transported to Mediclinic Sandton for urgent treatment.

“The driver of the light motor vehicle fortunately did not sustain any injuries,” Meiring said.
