Curro extends learning in Lanseria

LANSERIA — Education expands with the new Curro school in Lanseria.

The Curro brand in education is being expanded with the opening of its new school in Lanseria, Curro Monaghan.

The school opened in January on a temporary site and the buildings were completed in April. The school currently accepts pupils from three months old to Grade 3.

“In 2016 it will be up to Grade 4 and every year we will add a grade. We definitely plan to be a high school,” said school principal Charisse le Roux.

Le Roux said that the school remains strong in its values of positive discipline, child friendliness, Christian ethos and creativity. It offers robotics as a subject from Grade R and combines mathematics with computer training.

Situated right next to Monaghan farm, the open and large fields are perfect for sport activities including hockey, netball and football. “We also offer a number of extra-curricular activities at the school including chess, art classes, drama and ballet,” Le Roux added.

The castle section enrolls pupils from three years old and stays open during school holidays and the children are served afternoon lunch every day.

Le Roux said that they follow the Curriculum Assessment Policy Statements (CAPS) curriculum, which is more enriched.

“We have a group of education experts that examined the CAPS document and looked at certain areas where they could enhance and improve on it. We have open days every Tuesday morning for the public to sit in on one of the classes. Parents are also welcome to join assemblies in the mornings,” Le Roux concluded.
