CTU students prioritise small charities

The organisation, run by Sonja Labuschagne, received further help in the form of a R650 cash donation.

Students of CTU Training Solutions at Village @ Horizon this week displayed their commitment to the community in the form of a charity handover.

They donated home-made pet mattresses, foods and toys to the Animal Rescue & Rehome Foundation (ARRF) in Krugersdorp specifically because it is a small, lesser-known organisation, said Bianca Reinecke, student and project leader.

The students, as part of their first year in a project management class, had to launch and lead a project to aid a lesser-known charity and had a very tight budget to work with. Luckily, Randfontein Bedding came on board and sponsored materials with which they made the matresses, Reinecke said. The students also sold coffee and donuts at their ‘campus’ in the shopping complex and collected external cash donations, with which profits they bought foods and toys.
