Ten fun facts about Africa and your neighbourhood

RANDBURG – Did you know the continent’s population may be more than double the current 2.3 billion people by 2050.

Africa Day marks the day, on 25 May 1963, when countries in Africa that had achieved freedom, came together to sign a declaration to form the Organisation of African Unity (OAU).

The OAU was transformed into the African Union (AU) in 2002, which was launched in Durban in July that year. The AU has brought together African states to collectively address the problems challenging us.
