Two school children, mother in head-on collision

It has not yet been confirmed which school/s the mother was transporting her children to when the collision occurred.

A mother, her two children and a taxi driver was injured following a head-on collision this morning (Tuesday 26 May).

The accident happened on Randfontein Road at the Corlett Avenue intersection near Witpoortjie at around 7am. According to Quick Response Service (QRS) spokesperson Denver Ramnarain, both drivers of the vehicle and taxi were seriously injured. Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann confirmed the children, a boy, 6, and a girl were stabilised on scene but sustained serious injuries during the collision.

The three occupants of the smashed vehicle were transported to Life Flora Clinic, two by Netcare 911 and the third by Joburg EMS later on. ER 24 transported the taxi driver to Randfontein Private Hospital.

“Traffic was severely affected as a result of the crash,” Steinmann said.

The other injured persons’ ages are not yet known to the Record.
