Runway to New York

The Krugersdorp High School matric pupil will use this opportunity to shine and make a name for himself.

Njabulo Dlamini-Rundle will be jetting off to the Big Apple in July to participate in the International Modeling and Talent Association.

The convention will have more than 400 top fashion and talent agents, managers and casting directors on the lookout for talented individuals.

Models, actors, singers and dancers invited to the convention will compete on runways and on stage and get interviews with agents and managers.

“At first I thought modelling was something I’d never do but after competing in a school pageant, I realised how fun it can be. Then at an audition while waiting in line, a woman asked me if I’ve ever modelled. I said no and she convinced me that being a model would suit me,” said Njabulo.

The 18-year-old from Roodekrans has always been comfortable in front of the camera, appearing in a few television commercials when he was a young boy.

“I love being on stage and showing off. I’m good with people and entertaining them ,” he said.

From rock climbing to bunjee jumping and zip lining, Njabulo is adventurous in nature and he points to his multi-cultural background as one of the reasons for his out-going nature.

“My brother and I were adopted at four years of age. I am Zulu, my brother is Xhosa, my mother is Afrikaans and my father is British. This has given me a wider-ranging view of life and society,” he said.
