Car and truck collide, injuring six

The patients were treated for their injuries and stabilised on scene before being transported to Helen Joseph Hospital for further medical attention.

Six people in their mid-30s and 40s were injured this morning (Friday 15 May) when a vehicle collided with a truck on the N1 near the Maraisburg off-ramp.

According to ER 24 crisis communicator Russell Meiring the accident occurred around 4.15am. All six occupants of the vehicle was found injured while the truck driver was left unscathed. When ER24 paramedics arrived, they found both vehicles in the right lane of the highway. Three of the vehicle’s occupants were seated against the barriers while the remaining three were still inside the vehicle.

“They sustained minor to moderate injuries; one man had isolated head injuries and some of the patients had minor lacerations,” Russell told the Record.

The cause of the collision is still unknown but Metro Police were on scene to launch an investigation into the matter.
