The suspects were arrested during a special operation by which Roodepoort Police performed stop and search duties.
“Suspects were arrested for various crimes including assault, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of stolen goods, possession of drugs, possession of dangerous weapons and shoplifting” Roodepoort Police spokesperson Nonhlanhla Khumalo in a press statement said.
Others were arrested for more serious crimes including fraud, rape and murder. Eight illegal immigrants were also arrested.
The other suspects are likely to appear in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court throughout the week.
