The ‘Audi gang‘ that robbed various home business owners in the Roodepoort area has been caught yesterday.
Due to the articles and video footage the Record published the Mondeor Community Police Forum could positively identify the gang.
The four suspects whose modus operandi was to pretend they are interested in the product of a business would distract the owner while their fellow gang members would take valuables from the house.
Yesterday three of the suspects, a male and two females, approached a swimming pool business in Booysens. While the man lured the owner’s wife outside to the swimming pool, the two females went into the house. While they were busy the woman’s daughter and domestic worker caught them in the act and confronted them. Being part of the Booysens Neighbourhood Watch they quickly alerted their patrollers who arrived swiftly to detain the suspects. One female unfortunately managed to flee. The two suspects arrested are currently held at Johannesburg Central police station.
The police has asked for victims of the gang to please contact the Booysens police station in order for them to build a case and connect the various incidents.
