Little Miss SA crowned

RUIMSIG — Newly crowned Little Miss SA headed for US.

Grade 7 pupil at Maragon Primary School, Noelle du Plessis has been crowned as Little Miss SA for 2014/15.

“It was an evening I will always remember, it changed my life forever,” beamed the pupil from the school in Ruimsig.

Dr Ellen Roux, who founded the Little Miss Petite and Little Miss SA 20 years ago, said she is always very proud of the candidates.

“They do a lot of charity work during their reign, we work with four charities including SPCA, children and old age homes. We hold the competition in October/November every year.”

Du Plessis will be jetting off to compete at the World Championships for Performing Arts in Los Angeles, USA, in July 2015.

“I want to make my country proud and give my very best at the championships,” she said.

The little Miss Petite South Africa competition is open to girls from four to eight years, while the Little Miss SA is open to aspiring beauty queens from nine to 12 years old.

“We have been running for 20 years and it so great when some of the older title holders start entering their daughters,” Roux enthused.

As for our current title holder, Noelle is no stranger to the lights and glamour, having entered the 2015 South African Championships for Performing Arts where she was also given the top achievement award.

Although young Noelle is not oblivious to what the crown means. “It is about making a difference in someone’s life by adding value. I love to give back to the community and I am so grateful that I am in a position to do so,” she concluded.
