Gateway Society receives a much needed donation

RUIMSIG - Randburg based air-conditioning company makes a donation worth over R250 000 to the Gateway Society.

The Gateway Society recently received a much needed donation from North Riding based company called Fourways Airconditioning. The company donated and installed air-conditioners worth over R 250 000 to two workshops at Gateway. Fundraising manager for the society, Moira Short said they were blessed to receive such a huge donation. She explained that they have been in need of air-conditioners as the ones they had, stopped working a few months back. She explained that she approached the company and was astonished at the prompt positive response that they received from the company. “Soon after talking to them, they actually came to our premises to look at the workshops and see what type of air-conditioners were needed,” said Short.

Ronel Barnard who is the general manager for Gateway Society said the lack of working air conditioners played a negative impact for their villagers and day workers. “Sometimes it got too hot and it would mean that they had to stay outside, making them lose on production or lessons,” explained Barnard.

She pointed out that they were humbled by the company’s donation as they gave more than they asked for. “They also donated a big screen TV and also came with their employees here, arranged lunch and spent the day with the villagers. This is something remarkable and show that they give with sincere gratitude.”

Short added that the donation will allow warmth in the winter months and cooling for the summer months, something the villagers have needed for a very long time but this has been way out of their budget to afford.

Kenna Perry of Fourways Airconditioning said they were pleased to be able to make a difference in the lives of community members like those of Gateway Society. She highlighted that this type of thing was what they always do whenever they are able to help.
