High school pupils educated about xenophobia

High school pupils are not to involve themselves in any attack on foreign nationals.

So Florida Park High were warned by the Florida Police’s social crime prevention officer, Warrant Officer Jooste, and other officers of the Honeydew Cluster. The crime fighters visited the school on Wednesday 22 April to sensitise pupils about the recent attacks on foreign nationals as well as other school safety concerns.

“More than 1550 pupils were addressed on Wednesday,” Florida Police spokesperson Lydia Dikolomelo in a press statement said.

“Other crime prevention tips shared with them is to not expose their valuables, like cell phones or tablets, when they’re walking home from school and to always walk in groups,” Dikolomelo said.

This talk formed part of the Honeydew Cluster’s, including Roodepoort and Florida Police’s, campaign against xenophobia.
