The accident occurred near Joachim van Plettenberg Road, where it was found that a 35-year-old cyclist had rear-ended a light delivery vehicle with his bicycle.
Upon assessment, Netcare 911 paramedics found that he had sustained critical injuries during the crash, spokesperson Santi Steinmann in a press statement said.
“The injured man was treated at the scene and rushed to hospital for the urgent medical care that he required,” she said.
The occupants of the light delivery vehicle were unscathed. Exact detail surrounding the cause of the accident and preceding events will remain the subject of a police investigation.
