Two hijackers were shot dead on Ontdekkers Road at the intersection with Crane Street last night at about 6pm.
Two young women were travelling from Johannesburg to their homes in Randfontein when they stopped at the intersection where four armed men approached them demanding their vehicle and valuables.

Another motorist saw what was happening and a shootout between the suspects and him ensued. Another four suspects managed to flee in the vehicle while the motorist shot dead two of the suspects. As the exchange of shots took place the woman sped off.

While on the scene the Record was harassed and abused not only by Honey Hills Neighbourhood Watch but also by two high ranking police officials from Roodepoort police.
