Stand in solidarity against xenophobia

BRAAMFONTEIN — Join the silent vigil in solidarity against xenophobia.

The recent spate of xenophobia in Joburg and Durban have had several people in an uproar over the merciless attacks on and killing of foreigners.

Lead SA appeals to the public to join in solidarity against xenophobic attacks with a silent vigil.

At 7pm 21 April at Constitution Hill, the public will come together in unity against the killing and displacing of foreign nationals. The organisation said they call on everyone to stand up and preserve humanity.

“The vigil is an opportunity for peaceful self-examination and reflection on the tragic events of the last couple of weeks. We want those who are being targeted to know that they are not alone.”

At least five people have been killed after the attacks erupted in Durban last week and several more have been displaced in different camps.

The Democratic Alliance is also expected to hold an address at Constitution Hill.

Under the hashtag #NoToXenophobia, people from all walks of life have risen to the call and showed condemnation through peaceful unity.
