Stinking up the neighbourhood
While the pipe has been fixed and no more sewerage is leaking, the agency that worked on it left the place as filthy.
It has been more than a more than a month since the residents of Marechalle Street have had to live with the awful smell coming from the block drainage pipe.
“We are grateful that they finally fixed the pipe but now the water that came from the drainage pipe is standing there. This has made the smell even worse because there is no flow. It’s even worse on windy days because the smell just circulates,” said Riaan Bowles.A similar incident has occurred Claremont’s Plateau Drive.
A drainage pipe has been blocked for the last week. Contractors from the City of Johannesburg were recently on the scene to assess the situation and will return in the next few weeks to fix the problem.
