Zia shines at Talent Africa

A Trinityhouse Randpark Ridge pupil was one of the big winners in the Talent Africa National held at the Pro-Musica Auditorium.

Zia van der Mescht earned herself 10 gold medals, three silver medals and one bronze medal at the five day event held from 24 to 28 March.

She was participating in the drama division and will now represent the country as part of team South Africa that will compete at Talent America in New York.

The grade four pupil represented Linda Theron Drama Studio which won 237 gold medals, 124 silver medals and nine bronze medals.

“Zia is a very dedicated student always bouncing and smiling. She is always willing to take on any part and to stand in when students withdrew. She joined the studio less than a year ago but her positive and humble attitude together with her talent has proofed that she will reach the stars. She has performed monologues and parts from Anne of Green Gables to Mrs Potato Head to a Card in Alice in Wonderland. I am proud to say that she is part of my studio,” said Linda Theron.
