Lesedi aims to be Miss Teen Commonwealth South Africa

Lesedi has been modelling since the age of eight and decided to enter the competition to broaden her horizons.

Lesedi Bele has been chosen as one of 50 semi-finalists for the Miss Teen Commonwealth South Africa. The 15-year-old was chosen after entering the competition in February.

“I have always had the passion for modeling and my mother saw me as a model. I used to wear her high heels and everyone always told me I had the body of a model. I decided to enter Miss Teen Commonwealth South Africa because I wanted to experience a competition of this level,” she said.

The West Ridge High School pupil has been busy fulfilling the requirements of being a semi-finalist which include charity work.

Last week she visited Tshepang Orphanage Centre and donated clothing.

As part of the competition, Lesedi must work hard to find sponsorship for herself and a charity of her choice.

“The platform the competition offers will enable me to do more charity work in my community so I can change people’s lives. We also need the community to support to donate more clothing to Tshepang,” said Lesedi.

The grade 11 pupil wants to study medicine and become a Forensic Investigator. She looks to her mother as a role model who is also an academic.

Her mother Tiisetso who works in Environmental Education with two diplomas, an Honours degree and Masters Degree to her name said she did not want to stop her daughter from becoming a model.

“It was Lesedi’s dream and I could not stand in her way of pursuing it. She has always loved being a model and she has worked hard. When she started, I knew nothing about the industry,” she said.

The grand finale of the competition will be hosted at the Lyrical Theatre in Gold Reef City from the 10-12 September.

The winner will represent South Africa in the international competition held in the United Kingdom.

People can vote for her by sending Lesedi Bele to 35554.
