Deputy minister praises Re/Max

PARKMORE – Real estate company leads the way in transformation.

Deputy Minister of Human Settlements Zou Kota-Fredericks likened Re/Max to Nelson Mandela on 26 March. Speaking at a media briefing at Parkmore Square, Kota-Fredericks said that the real estate company was leading the way in transformation in its industry.

“We have recognised the imbalances in the real estate industry,” she said. “We are proud that Re/Max have been agents of change. We are truly hopeful that the real estate sector will follow Re/Max.”

She added that just as Nelson Mandela had changed South Africa for the better, Re/Max has changed its industry for the better. Co-founder of Re/Max Southern Africa Peter Gilmour explained that while only five per cent of agents in the real estate industry are of colour, Re/Max has nearly 30 per cent. The company’s CEO Adrian Goslett added that the company has a youth internship programme that promotes the integration of skilled workers of colour into the industry.

Advocate Jan Tladi of the Estate Agency Affairs Board also spoke highly of Re/Max’s stance toward transformation. “We wish Re/Max well in this noble South African story,” he said.
