Renowned photographer exhibits in Davidsonville

Outdoor exhibition documents acid mine draining.

The renowned Swedish photographer Eva-Lotta Jansson held an outdoor exhibition of her work titled “An acid river runs through it” this past Saturday in Davidsonville.

Janson’s work spans across a year in which she captured the problem of acid mine draining (AMD) and how it affects human beings. Her photos often focus on the human and how affected communities are often aware of how AMD affects them.

Jansson has worked closely with DA councillor for the area, Gert Niemand. Other important guests were representatives from the Ford Foundation as well as the Centre for Environmental Rights. Reuters, the international news agency was there to capture the day.

Niemand said the reason for holding an outside exhibition was to bring the problem closer to the people.
