March brings CBD to standstill

JMPD chief refuses to receive memorandum.

More than a 150 marchers took to the streets of Roodepoort CBD in protest against crime.

The march left off at the Roodepoort Town Hall where Councillor Gert Niemand, who organised the protest, were going to hand over a memorandum to the Metro Police superintendent in charge of Region C, Pule Mogale. Mogale allegedly refused to receive the memorandum. Before leaving DA councillor Dave Dewes gave a passionate speech expressing his dismay with the Metro Police.

Accompanied by police and metro police vehicles the march proceeded to Roodepoort police station where Niemand gave a fiery speech and handed over a memorandum to the Honeydew cluster commander Colonel Oswald Reddy.
