Pint-for-a-pint blood drive
RADIOKOP – Donate your blood and O’Hagan’s Rock cottage will reward you
O’Hagan’s Rock Cottage, along with the South African National Blood Service, will host a blood drive on 18 April from 10 am to 3pm.
Owner Theresa Fouché said, ”Last year we had 65 pints of blood donated and this year we want more.”
After donating blood, O’Hagan’s will then give the donor a pint of Coke or Castle draught if it is their choice.
Donors must meet the following requirements:
• Your weight is 50kg or more
• Between the ages of 16 to 65 years old
• Make sure you are healthy on the day of donation
• Lead a sexually healthy lifestyle
• Make sure you have had something to eat prior to donating blood
• Know that your blood is safe
According to the South African Blood Services, you cannot get HIV/Aids from donating blood. All needles and finger prick lancets are new, sterile and used only once. After use, each lancet and needle are placed in a special medical-waste container and incinerated.Trained staff collect all blood donations and very strict protocols are followed to ensure that all blood donation procedures are safe and hygienic.
