A man is threatening to jump off Maraisburg Bridge at the moment. JMPD has blocked off the N1 South and the SAPS negotiator is on the scene.
According to VitalMed Ambulance Services spokesperson Ashley Nichols, the man has not given a reason to why he wants to jump but is waiting for his girlfriend.
“The man has been standing on the bridge for the last 20 minutes threatening to jump. He is demanding that his girlfriend be brought to him,” said Nichols.
VitalMed currently has two response vehicles on the scene.
After almost an hour of negotiations, police managed to talk the man off the bridge. The N1 South highway and other road have been re-opened.
