Attacked and robbed by loiterers

STRUBEN'S VALLEY – A man was brutally attacked and robbed by so-called jobseekers.

Jobseekers, who usually stand at the intersection of Cascades and Fredenharry roads in Little Falls, allegedly assaulted and robbed a man on Tuesday 10 March.

It is understood that the jobseekers asked the man what he was looking for or what he wanted in the area. It is said that the victim became arrogant with the men and that is when he was attacked. “They attacked him with a brick , hitting him over the head and robbed him of his cellphone and wallet,” explained Maggie Bezuidenhout of SRT Security, who said they were given the information by one of their response officers.

ER24 was called to the scene to attend to the injured victim.

According to resident Chris van Tonder, these people are not jobseekers but actually criminals. “These loiterers stand on the street to monitor trends of each resident before breaking into their homes,” said Van Tonder.

He continued, “I guarantee that all housebreakings and robberies that occurred in our suburb were committed by these guys. Some of them also work as informants for other criminals.”

One of the suspects, who took part in the attack, is said to have been wearing black jeans and a black shirt with white stripes. Honeydew Police are still to comment on the matter.
