BREAKING NEWS: Eskom CEO suspended

Jhb- As the energy crisis continues, Eskom CEO together with three other top officials have been asked to step aside.

Eskom Chairperson Zola Tsotsi announced this morning that CEO Tshediso Matona and three other top management officials have been suspended.

Briefing the media this morning, Tsotsi said the officials have been asked to step aside so to allow process to happen and highlighted that there is no intent or suspicion of wrongdoing.

“The suspension is only done to allow inquiry to happen without influence,” explained Tsotsi.

Matona together with finance director Tsholofelo Molefe, group capital executive Dan Marokane and technology and commercial executive Matshela Koko are suspended.

According to Tsotsi, the inquiry is a fact finding exercise that will look into the poor generation capacity and cash flow problems among other things. He also added that there is no sinister hidden agenda by the board. He said the inquiry will not be longer than three months.
