Drug dealer nabbed thanks to public information

Florida Police in civillian clothes arrested a suspected drug dealer after receiving information from the public.

On Sunday 1 March at around 10 am the policemen arrived at Kerdis Flats in Gordon Road where they were told drugs were being sold from. Knocking at the main door a woman answered the door, said police spokesperson Lydia Dikolomela.

“The police explained their reason for the visit and the woman informed them that she shares the flat with a man.

“They proceeded to knock on his bedroom door,” Dikolomela said.

“After explaining their purpose of visiting to him they requested to conduct a search,” she said.

During the search the policemen happened upon a transparent plastic bag in which blue and black plastic bags were stored, each containing a white powder substance suspected to be drugs.

“It is alleged that when he was questioned about the substance, he apologised,” Dikolomela told the Record.

The suspect, who is a 30-year-old foreign national, was arrested and detained for possession of drugs pending his appearance in the Roodepoort Magistrate’s Court.
