High-visibility operation nets some criminals

HONEYDEW – Police made a number of arrests during their high-visibility operation.

On Friday 27 February, Honeydew Police members in conjunction with various other police units embarked on a high-visibility operation from midnight till 7am.

According to spokesperson Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs, a 13/7 warrant of arrest operation was conducted at Banburry Cross Village in Northriding.

After conducting the search at this shopping centre, WO Jacobs said they also went to various shebeens and liquor outlets within the Honeydew Police precinct.

She said the operation proved fruitful as Metro Police arrested 22 drivers for driving under the influence of liquor.

Police arrested two suspects who were found in possession of drugs.

One suspect was arrested for dealing in dagga.

“Two liquor outlets were closed and owners arrested for failure to comply with the Liquor Act and selling liquor without a licence,” explained WO Jacobs.
