Entrapped man rescued after accident
A man was trapped between the vehicle and the ground after a vehicle overturned on Ontdekkers Road on Saturday morning (28 February).
The vehicle left the roadway and overturned at around 2 am that morning. Netcare 911 paramedics, its rescue unit and other services arrived to find the vehicle had come to a standstill on its roof.
“The driver of the vehicle was partially ejected from it,” said Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann.
“The rescue unit made use of pneumatic lifting bags and specialist equipment to lift the vehicle up, to enable paramedics to remove the man from underneath the vehicle,” she said.
Upon assessment they had found that the man was in critical condition. After he received treatment on scene he was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention.
The exact details of his accident and preceding events are unclear. Metro police are investigating the matter.
