Hair today, gone tomorrow

HONEYDEW — Lose or colour your crown with the upcoming Cansa shavathon.

Get ready to lose your most precious accessory in the name of charity.

LDR salon in Honeydew is hosting a shavathon event on 28 February as part of the Cansa charity.

“Since I took over the salon more than seven months ago, I have been looking to give back to the community and people in need and that is why I got involved with the Cansa shavathon. It is a nationwide reputable charity. Everyone that I know has someone or knows someone who is affected by cancer,” said the salon’s owner, Lakin Dos Reis.

At R50 and R25 everybody , young and old, can take part in the fun while doing some good from 8am until late in the afternoon. “People do not HAVE to shave their hair, they can also spray their hair to show their support to the cause,” added Dos Reis.

You can also look forward to rubbing shoulders with former Miss SA Nicole Flint, who is the salon’s celebrity brand ambassador.

At just 26, Dos Reis is an entrepreneur with a purpose. She started at the salon as a stylist and worked her way up, eventually taking over as owner.

“I branded the salon and changed the name to my initials and since then we have more than doubled our clientele and we continue to grow each day. We recently made it as one of the Top 20 Wella salons in Gauteng and that is amazing news,” smiled the business owner.

Donations will be welcome on the day of the shavathon and will go toward raising as much money as possible for the cause.
