Watch the Black Eagles live 24 hours a day

POORTVIEW – Improved live webcam is ready to stream a crisp video stream of the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens and its Black Eagles, 24 hours a day.

The Black Eagles at Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens have gained popularity among photographers and birdwatchers who have been flocking to the gardens to catch a glimpse of these majestic creatures of the sky.

The popularity of the eagles meant that a webcam was the next logical step because then people could watch the eagles 24 hours a day from the comfort of their homes.

According to Africam, the company that updated the camera which was installed in 2014, the live camera is dedicated to broadcasting the Black Eagles of Roodekrans.

According to spokesperson at the gardens Ronnie Tshabalala, the eagles’ nest is about 50 metres high up the cliff face and this posed a challenge to the Africam team when it came to positioning the camera as the team had to climb up the cliff face with all of their equipment.

The team at Africam improved the original camera by updating the streaming quality and the glare reduce technology on the camera. New LED infrared lights have been installed that provide excellent night vision, ensuring a 24-hour uninterrupted streaming experience of the Black Eagles.

Not only does the image look more stable but Africam has also added an omni-directional microphone that will capture the ambient sound of the gardens and the waterfall that is located next to the nest.
