Seniors young at hearts

LITTLE FALLS — Hearts flutter during Valentine's Day breakfast.

Mr SA Armand du Plessis had the senior citizens swooning when he interacted with the community at the Little Falls Christian Centre on 12 February.

The get together was in preparation for Valentine’s Day and included members from the congregation and the local old-age homes.

“We have a couple of events like this for old people five times a year. Today we will be making Valentines Day cards and hearts. We had a great help from JTI, who helped us with the food, and flowers were donated to us,” said one of the pastors, Dorothy Begemann.

After the opening prayer and a song from Toerien Begemann, the residents got busy making creative Valentine’s Day hearts with a twist.

The newly crowned Mr SA spoke about his journey during his competition and his pride in coming from the West Rand.

“As a proud Christian, I want to use my title to spread the word of God in the West Rand and the country. Mr South Africa is about community work. It has been a long journey to get here but I am blessed immensely. When we were in Thailand, I tore a ligament before the final and I was very worried about how I would perform but I pulled through and that is because of the Lord.”
