Thinking ‘out of the box’ for Valentine’s day

Forget the usual dinner by candlelight and spoiling her with chocolates. Woe her by "thinking out of the box" this Valentine's day.

Want something different other than the usual monotonous candlelit dinner this Valentines day?

Then try these useful tips…

Because most restaurants will be overcrowded and the prices for meals will certainly increase on the 14 February, why not celebrate Valentine’s day on the 15 February? You will save a few rands and you can plan something much more fun.

Forget the expected ‘bunch of roses’ for your significant other and treat her with an alternative chocolate, vegetable or candy bouquet. After all, it is the thought that counts right?

Volunteer together at your nearest non-profit organisation and spread the love. There is no better feeling than to put a smile on the faces of people and to give hope to those who have been deeply hurt through failed relationships.

Be spontaneous for a day or if you must, a weekend and travel to wherever the wind blows you. Just ensure that you have enough cash and fuel!

Throw a party for you and your friends and play games such as 30 Seconds or Scrabble. The losing team gets to pay for the wining team’s date night.

Watch a scary movie and scream your lungs out. Not literally, of course and who knows, you could record him screaming like a girl and use it as bait in the future?

Afraid of heights? Maybe now would be the perfect time to overcome your fears. Do bungee-jumping, sky-diving or rock climbing and try to keep your eyes closed, just in case nausea and dizziness kicks in.

Play video games. Ladies, now is the time to prove to him that you are actually way better than him at Fifa. The loser gets to cook dinner or clean the house.

Whatever you decide to do this Valentine’s day, enjoy it and make the most of your time spent with your spouse. Life is too short not to “think out of the box.”
