Country club guards react quickly

RUIMSIG – Perpetrators flee the scene as electric fence alarm goes off.

An attempted burglary took place at Ruimsig Country Club in the late evening hours of 3 February.

“The perpetrators tried to gain access to the club by cutting the electric fence in two places,” said General Manager Gary Geddes.

He explained that they [perpetrators] didn’t expect to find the fence connected to the alarm, which went off and this alerted the guards.

“The guards reacted quickly and managed to stop the perpetrators from breaking in, but they fled as soon as they spotted the guards.”

Honeydew Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs explained that nothing was reported to the police but added that residents should be vigilant and report any suspicious-looking characters to the police immediately.
