Police honoured on National Police Day

HONEYDEW – Mosaïek Church and Clearwater Panarrottis Pizza throw a mini celebration for police.

As the South African Police Services marked National Police Day on Tuesday 27 January, Mosaïek Church Fairlands and Panarottis Pizza Clearwater Mall took it upon themselves to ensure that Honeydew Police celebrate this day in a special way. On the day, the two entities arranged lunch for the police to mark the celebrations.

Estelle Mengel, who is the partnership developer for the church, said this was part of their peace project. “Matthew 5:9 says, Blessed are the peacemakers for they will be called children of God. With our police being peacemakers, it means that they are really blessed,” explained Mengel.

She added they felt the need to reach out to the police as they do a great job in keeping peace in different communities.

Owner of Panarottis Clearwater Mall Wayne Addison said, they did this to show appreciation to the police. “This was just to pay recognition to the wonderful job the police do in fighting crime.”

Spokesperson for Honeydew Police Warrant Officer Karen Jacobs said it was heartwarming to receive this kind of recognition from community members.
