Armand du Plessis takes MR SA title

RUIMSIG – Our very own heartthrob takes coveted title.

RUIMSIG – Last night at  the prestigious MR SA finale, Armand du Plessis was named as Mr South Africa for 2015.

“My nerves were shot as I stood on the stage but I knew I worked hard for the title and the next moment I heard my name ,” said Du Plessis. “It was an indescribable feeling of joy and being proud of what I have achieved.”

The 2015 MR SA looked back at his 2014/2015 journey in the MR SA competition and said, “It all started last year in February when 100 hopefuls entered the MR SA competition and it was soon narrowed down to 50 and then 25.”

He explained that in October the Top 25 headed off to a reality week where they had a couple challenges that were waiting for them. “It was a mix between physical and mental exercises that we had to compete in and at the end of the week the Top 12 was chosen.”

According to Du Plessis the most rewarding part of the journey was the projects that the Top 12 had to do. “I did various projects that involved hosting a blanket run and to visit a couple of schools to do drug campaigns with them and each project was challenging on a different level and all of them were rewarding in different ways.”

The Top 12 made it all the way to the finale that took place at EnGedi close to the Cradle of Humankind.

“The evening started off with a swim wear competition and it moved over to casual outfits where it finally ended off with the formal clothing. It was interesting to see the mix of outfits and there were one or two interesting outfits.”

He explained that the finalists were then narrowed down to the Top 5 where each one had to answer a tricky question. “Following the question, the Top 3 were chosen, Morne Marais, Sibusiso Sibanda and I made it to the top 3 and the formal dinner took place then.”

The Top 3 appeared on stage on last time as Sibusiso Sibanda took third and Morne Marais took sencond. The man of the moment Armand du Plessis then took the title of 2015 MR SA.

“My journey only begins now as Mister South Africa and it’s my duty to inspire everyone in our country. I have to thank everyone for being a part of my journey and for supporting me all the way,” concluded du Plessis.
