Five people injured in accident on Ouklip Road

HELDERKRUIN – SUV lies on its side following a accident that involves a delivery truck on Ouklip Road.

On 17 January at about 6.30pm two vehicles were involved in an accident on Ouklip Road close to the Ruhamah Drive Intersection.

According to Netcare Media Liaison Officer Santi Steinmann, when the paramedics arrived on scene they discovered that a Toyota Fortuner and a delivery truck were the only two vehicles involved in the accident.

“The Toyota Fortuner was knocked on its side by the delivery vehicle and this caused the Fortuner to overturn and it came to a standstill on the driver’s side of the vehicle. The delivery truck crashed through a residential wall after it hit the Toyota and the truck came to a standstill inside the property.”

Steinmann added that after assessing all of the occupants they found that five people had serious injuries.

“The fire department stepped in to help as the driver in the delivery truck was trapped in the vehicle and had to be freed from the wreck.”

“After receiving treatment on scene, all of the patients were transported to hospital for further medical care. The police are busy with an investigation into the exact details surrounding the cause of the accident and the preceding events are still unclear at this stage,” concluded Steinmann.
