Three-year-old still in critical condition following Spar crash

The three-year-old girl who was critically injured following a crash at the Witpoortjie Spar is still in hospital.

Zoey Tsotetsi’s father, Innocent said they are still waiting for the doctors at Garden City hospital to give an update about her condition, but the status so far is that she is still in a serious condition. The family were walking into the Spar when they saw the vehicle veering in their direction, but her mother Diana was a second too late in pulling the girl out of the way. The vehicle pushed her against the shop’s windows leaving her in a serious condition. The mother did not sustain any injuries.

The driver, Charlene de Wit was arrested later that day after she surrendered herself to Roodepoort police, but was told to return to the scene.

The crash caused about R60 000 worth of damage and shop owner Johnny Gonsalves said the damage will be fixed by Wednesday.

“We are somehow able to close the entrance doors so we will be able to keep the shop safe.

“It is still business as usual for us,” he said.

Roodepoort police have committed to commenting at a later stage.
