Five injured in Ouklip collision
Five people were injured on Ouklip Road after a delivery vehicle collided with a Toyota Fortuner on Saturday afternoon 17 January.
The collision occurred after 16.30 pm on Ouklip Road near Ruhamah Drive when a delivery vehicle crashed into the Fortuner, causing it to overturn and come to a standstill on the driver’s side of the vehicle. The delivery vehicle went on to leave the roadway and crashed through a residential wall, coming to a standstill inside the property.
Netcare 911 paramedics assessed the occupants of the vehicles and found that five people sustained serious injuries, said spokesperson Santi Steinmann.
“The driver of the delivery vehicle was entrapped in the vehicle and our Rescue Unit assisted Joburg EMS with his extrication,” Steinmann said.
“After patients received treatment on scene they were transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care,” she said.
Exact detail to the cause of the accident and preceding events remain unclear and are the subject of a current police investigation.
