25-hour water disruption for Joburg

JOHANNESBURG – Johannesburg Water warns residents that they will be without water on 24 and 25 January following maintenance that needs to be done to the Eikenhof pump station by Rand Water.

The City’s water entity Johannesburg Water issued a warning about a planned water disruption that will affect various suburbs in Roodepoort, Randburg, Northcliff and surrounds.

The disruption will take place on 24 January from 6pm and 25 January from 7pm.

Johannesburg Water External Communications Officer Eleanor Mavimbela said, “The disruption is because of maintenance that will be done to the Eikenhof pump station by Rand Water.

“Very important to remember is that the water supply disruption is expected to last 25 hours. Rand Water will continue to supply water into our system at a reduced capacity but there might be poor pressures and no water supply experienced in the affected areas.”

The areas that will be without water are: Bergbron, Constantia Kloof, Allen’s Nek, Weltevreden Park, Zandspruit, Randparkridge, Olivedale, Sundowner, Northwold, Boskruin, Bromhof, Kya Sands, Bloubosrand, Eagle Canyon, Honeydew, Poortview, Ruimsig, Wilgeheuwel, Little Falls and parts of North Riding.

Other affected suburbs are: Albertskroon, Albertsville, Brixton, Melville, Emmarentia, Auckland Park, Greenside, Westcliff, Parkview, Fairlands, Berario and Northcliff.

“The following hospitals will also be without water: Wilgeheuwel, Flora Clinic, Olivedale, Helen Joseph and Baragwanath.”

She added that residents can obtain more information by calling Joburg Connect on 011 375 5555 or visit www.johannesburgwater.co.za
