One arrested for copper theft

Eskom employee positively identify copper as Eskom's.

A suspect, aged 37 was detained for possession of 43kg of suspected stolen copper cable.

On Tuesday officials from Peak security received information from an unknown member of the public that there is a suspicious white pick-up van on the N1 South near 14th Avenue, loaded with drums containing cables.

Two of the security officials rushed to the highway and spotted the van and the suspect was pulled off the road.

The security officials alleged that they could see the two big drums containing cables at the back of the van. When they questioned the suspect about the cables, he could not give a satisfactory answer.

An official from Eskom was notified and he positively identified the underground copper cables as that of Eskom. The Police were called and an arrest was made.
