Hoërskool Florida pupil found

Chané 'Nya' Naudé, 16, has been found and has started her Grade 11 school year at Hoërskool Florida this morning (15 January).

According to mother Catherine Naudé, whose maiden name Jordaan was used in a previous report, the teenager was collected from a friend’s house in Krugersdorp North at 5.30 pm yesterday afternoon.

She had been staying with the friend and presumably left home following an argument. She left a note at home that her mother preferred not to elaborate on.

Chané sent an Afrikaans SMS message to her mother at around 5 pm yesterday asking to come home.

“Kom haal my asseblief, ek wil huis toe kom,” she wrote.

Catherine said that her daughter via a friend’s phone saw the widely spread facebook posts about her disappearance and decided to contact her mother.

Catherine and Chané’s father would like to thank residents and local media for spreading the news about their daughter and assisting in the search.

“Thank you all for your prayers and assistance during the family’s most difficult time.

“It really helped a lot and we appreciate you as our community.

“Chané is home and once again, safe,” Catherine posted from her daughter’s facebook account.
