Residents of William Nicol Street are incensed that an illegal taxi rank is forming in the area.
Residents have tried to report the matter to the local police station and Park Rangers since middle November and so far have received no response.
The residents, however, did manage to contact JMPD’s Wayne Minnaar but were referred to the Department of Community Safety as they are mandated by the Land and Transportation Act to resolve the issue.
The residents lodged a complaint but have not received a response yet.
Delilah Herman, a resident of the street said she is concerned because the number of taxis is increasing by the week.
“We would like to know if they have any right being there. We cannot confront them ourselves. That might get violent. All we want is for this issue to get resolved as quickly as possible because this is a suburb and they drive dangerously in the streets,” she said.
The residents are now at a loss as the department has not responded yet.
